The whole process of selfie is explored here in this section of the site.

13 years ago - along with a bunch of other people - I started taking selfies. I was a year into a very long project on museums that had me visiting 470 museums. I found something important both as an Aboriginal person travelling the world talking about anti-colonial processes in museums, and as a researcher who was talking to people working in these spaces, and writing about these practices: that selfies solved two major problems. The first is complex and a bit specific in that the methodological approach required me to recall information both written and in other ways documented. So of course I did that. I took meticulous notes on the 470 museums, including the people and the relationships to place that they held. Curators, community consultants, even directors. What I failed to do at the time was to document our interaction.
